The short version
Files you process with Convertora never leave your browser. We do not see them, do not upload them, and do not store them. Standard web analytics and Google AdSense run on the site to keep it free, and we describe exactly what each of those collects below.
Files you process
Every conversion, edit, and OCR operation runs locally inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you drop a file into a Convertora tool, the file is read into your browser's memory, processed by code running in your browser tab, and the result is offered to you as a download. The file itself is never transmitted to our servers, never stored in a database, never logged, and never seen by any human.
You can verify this for yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run any tool. You will not see any upload of your file. The only network traffic is the static JavaScript and assets that make up the page itself.
When you close the tab or navigate away, the file is discarded from memory. Convertora does not use IndexedDB, localStorage, or any other persistent storage to keep your files between sessions.
What we do collect
The site uses a small amount of anonymous, non-file data:
- Server access logs — when your browser fetches a Convertora page, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) records standard request data: IP address, user agent, request URL, and timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and traffic analysis. Logs are retained per Cloudflare's standard retention policy.
- Local preferences — your theme choice (light or dark) is stored in localStorage on your device so it persists across visits. This data never leaves your browser.
- Contact form submissions — if you send us a message via the contact form, the name, email, and message text are transmitted to our backend so we can read and reply. We retain support emails as long as they're operationally relevant.
Cookies and similar technologies
Convertora itself sets one cookie or localStorage entry: your theme preference. We do not set tracking cookies, fingerprinting scripts, or session-stitching identifiers.
Third-party services described below may set their own cookies. Where required by law (GDPR, CCPA, similar regulations), a consent banner appears so you can accept or decline non- essential cookies before they are set.
Advertising — Google AdSense
Convertora is funded by advertisements served via Google AdSense. Ads appear on the home page and at the bottom of each tool page. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize ads based on your prior visits to Convertora and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or by using the consent banner that appears in regulated jurisdictions to decline non-essential cookies. For more information about how Google uses data when you use partner sites, visit Google's Partner Sites policy.
Importantly: the ad network has no access to your files. Convertora's client-side architecture means your documents never reach a server, so neither we nor Google can analyze their contents. Ad targeting uses only general signals — your country (from IP address), the page URL, the keywords on the page — the same way ads on any content website work.
Third-party libraries
Convertora is built on open-source JavaScript libraries including pdf-lib, PDF.js, jsPDF, Tesseract.js, mammoth, SheetJS, and JSZip. These libraries run inside your browser and do not transmit data to their authors or any third party.
The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. reCAPTCHA loads from Google's servers and may set cookies related to bot detection. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Children's privacy
Convertora is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our contact form, please email us and we will delete it.
Your data rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law (including GDPR in the EU, the UK GDPR, and CCPA in California) may give you rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data a service holds about you, or to object to its processing.
Because Convertora does not process or retain your files, the only personal data we hold is what you voluntarily send via the contact form (name, email, message). To exercise your rights regarding that data, email us via the contact form and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and, where appropriate, post a notice on the home page. Continued use of Convertora after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
