Is there any quality loss?

The rotation itself is exact — pixels are rearranged, not resampled, because 90°-step rotations map every pixel to a precise new position. The only caveat is the save step: JPG output is re-encoded at high quality, which is a normal generational re-encode and visually indistinguishable, while PNG output is fully lossless. If you need a guaranteed bit-perfect pipeline, work in PNG.

Do 90° rotations distort the image?

No. The output canvas swaps width and height before the image is drawn, so the full picture lands exactly within the new bounds. A portrait photo becomes landscape (and vice versa) with every pixel preserved.

What about photos that look rotated only in some apps?

That's the EXIF orientation flag — the pixels are stored sideways and a metadata tag asks viewers to rotate them, which some software ignores. Modern browsers apply the flag when loading, and this tool saves the result with the orientation baked into the actual pixels, so the file then displays consistently everywhere.

Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle, like 5°?

No — the tool offers 90° steps and flips only. Arbitrary angles require resampling and either cropped corners or an enlarged canvas; straightening a slightly crooked photo is a job for an image editor with a leveling tool.

Can I rotate several images at once?
