About Remove Background from Image
This tool removes light backgrounds by color: it scans every pixel, and any pixel whose red, green, and blue values are all above your chosen threshold becomes fully transparent. That makes it a precise instrument for a specific class of images — scanned signatures, logos and line art on white, whiteboard photos, stamps, and product shots against a clean white backdrop — where it produces a crisp transparent PNG in one click.
It is worth being clear about what this is not: it is not an AI subject detector. It doesn't know what a person, product, or pet looks like; it only knows which pixels are near-white. On a busy photo with a multicolored background it will simply punch out the bright areas and leave the rest. For uniform light backgrounds, though, the threshold approach is fast, predictable, and runs entirely in your browser — the image is processed pixel-by-pixel on a local canvas and never uploaded anywhere.
How to use it
- 1Upload an image with a white or near-white background — JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF, up to 50 MB.
- 2Adjust the threshold slider (180-255, default 240). A pixel turns transparent only if its R, G, and B values are all at or above the threshold, so lowering the value removes more of the off-white and light-gray pixels.
- 3Click Remove Background. Every qualifying pixel's alpha is set to zero.
- 4Download the result — always a transparent PNG, named with a '-no-bg' suffix, regardless of the input format.
Common use cases
- Turning a signature scanned or photographed on white paper into a transparent stamp you can place on documents (pair it with the Sign PDF tool).
- Cleaning up a logo saved on a white background so it sits properly on a colored website header.
- Making whiteboard or notebook photos overlay-ready by dropping the paper background.
- Preparing simple product shots taken against a white sweep for use on non-white pages.

Tips
- Start at the default threshold of 240 and nudge downward until the background just disappears — going too low starts removing light grays that belong to the subject.
- For signatures, scan or photograph on bright, evenly lit white paper; shadows across the page read as gray and survive the threshold.

Convertora processes everything on your device using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files never leave your browser, are never uploaded to a server, and are never seen by us or anyone else. The moment you close the tab, the data is gone — there is no temporary cloud copy, no log entry, no retained backup.
Because the work happens locally, processing speed depends on your device — but there are no rate limits, no daily caps, and no file size restrictions beyond what your browser can handle in memory. No signup, no account, no payment. The tool works the same in incognito mode, on a corporate network, or after the page has loaded once, even with the network disconnected.
