About PDF to Word
Getting a PDF's text back into an editable Word document is one of the most requested document tasks — and one of the most misunderstood. A PDF doesn't store paragraphs, headings, or styles; it stores positioned text fragments. Any converter has to reconstruct the document's logical structure from visual clues, which means the result is editable text, not a perfect layout clone.
Convertora's converter does this reconstruction in your browser. It reads the text of each page, groups fragments into lines by their position, and uses relative font size to detect headings: text much larger than the page average becomes a Heading 1, moderately larger text becomes a Heading 2, and the rest becomes body paragraphs. The output is a standard .docx file that opens in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice, with a light page marker between the content of each original page.
Because nothing is uploaded, this is a safe way to recover text from confidential PDFs — contracts, internal reports, legal documents — that you wouldn't paste into a cloud converter.
How to use it
- 1Upload up to five PDFs (50MB each).
- 2The text layer of each page is extracted and grouped into lines based on vertical position.
- 3Headings are detected by comparing each line's font size to the page average, and mapped to Word heading styles.
- 4Paragraphs and headings are written into a .docx, with a subtle '--- Page N ---' marker separating each original page's content.
- 5Each result downloads as a Word file with the original base name.
Common use cases
- Recovering an editable copy of a document when the original Word file is lost.
- Pulling quotes, clauses, or sections out of a long PDF for reuse in a new document.
- Converting a PDF report into a draft you can restructure and rewrite.
- Extracting text content for translation or content migration work.

100% private — runs in your browser
Convertora processes everything on your device using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files never leave your browser, are never uploaded to a server, and are never seen by us or anyone else. The moment you close the tab, the data is gone — there is no temporary cloud copy, no log entry, no retained backup.
Because the work happens locally, processing speed depends on your device — but there are no rate limits, no daily caps, and no file size restrictions beyond what your browser can handle in memory. No signup, no account, no payment. The tool works the same in incognito mode, on a corporate network, or after the page has loaded once, even with the network disconnected.
