About HEIC to JPG

HEIC is the format iPhones have used by default since iOS 11. It stores photos at roughly half the size of equivalent JPGs — great for your phone's storage, less great the moment those photos need to go anywhere else. Windows often can't preview them without an extension pack, older Android devices and many upload forms reject them, and plenty of printing services simply say 'unsupported file'.

Convertora converts HEIC and HEIF files to JPG or PNG right in your browser using the heic2any decoder. The photos never leave your device — worth noting, since personal photos are exactly the kind of thing you shouldn't be uploading to anonymous conversion servers. You can convert up to 10 photos per batch, each up to 50MB.

How to use it

  1. 1Drop your .heic or .heif files onto the upload area (up to 10 at a time).
  2. 2Choose the output: JPG for smaller, universally compatible photos, or PNG for lossless output.
  3. 3Converting to JPG? Set the quality slider — the default of 85 keeps photos visually identical to the original.
  4. 4Click Convert. Each photo is decoded and re-encoded locally, and each converted file downloads individually with its original name and the new extension.

Common use cases

  • Sending iPhone photos to Windows or Android users who can't open HEIC.
  • Uploading photos to web forms, marketplaces, or government portals that only accept JPG or PNG.
  • Preparing photos for printing services and photo kiosks.
  • Converting images before editing in software that lacks HEIC support.
  • Archiving photos in a format you're confident will still open everywhere in twenty years.

Tips

  • Stop the problem at the source if you prefer: on iPhone, Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible makes the camera shoot JPG directly.
  • Converting photos to put into a document? Convert here first, then use Image to PDF to bundle the JPGs into a single file.

100% private — runs in your browser

Convertora processes everything on your device using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files never leave your browser, are never uploaded to a server, and are never seen by us or anyone else. The moment you close the tab, the data is gone — there is no temporary cloud copy, no log entry, no retained backup.

Because the work happens locally, processing speed depends on your device — but there are no rate limits, no daily caps, and no file size restrictions beyond what your browser can handle in memory. No signup, no account, no payment. The tool works the same in incognito mode, on a corporate network, or after the page has loaded once, even with the network disconnected.
